Access Steel was developed by a consortium of European technical institutes. It was jointly sponsored by the European Commission’s eContent Programme and seven steel producers.

The leading metal experts Rautaruukki, Rannila, Fundia, Gasell, CCB and Asva now operate under the common name Ruukki.

Dillinger Hütte GTS specializes in the production and supply of heavy steel plate.

CSC (UK) Ltd., established in 1975, is a major worldwide provider of software solutions for Structural Engineers. CSC specialises in integrated analysis, design, modelling and drafting. The products are backed by consultancy, support and training courses. During the last 27 years, CSC has been dedicated to the research, prototyping and development required for the production of comprehensive structural steelwork design.

 

CTICM Website

CTICM (Centre Technique Industriel de la Construction Métallique) in France undertakes research and development and disseminates information on the use of steel in construction. It is funded by a levy from steel fabricators. It is one of the leading organisations in Europe in the preparation of the steel Eurocodes and its services to the steel construction community include engineering consultancy, continuous education, product testing and European funded research projects covering the behaviour of steel structures.

 

eTeams Website

eTeams International Ltd. is based in Ireland and provides world-class specialised language services to an international client base. These include translation, localisation, proofreading, editing, design and multilingual publishing. Established in 1991, eTeams (formerly Bealtaine Ltd.) has been involved in a range of EU projects for ten years. eTeams is the language service expert for the STEEL project.

Labein is a research and innovation centre, private non-profit foundation, located in the Basque Country Region, in Spain. The mission of Labein is to support enterprises and administration bodies in their research and innovation needs by means of research, development and innovation projects as well as in technology transfer, technological services, consulting, training and dissemination activities.

 

RTHW Website

RWTH (Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule) in Aachen, Germany, works in various fields with particular emphasis on the promotion of steel in the structural area and has been heavily involved in the development of various Eurocodes. It employs about 40 staff in both the theoretical field and in the laboratory with test facilities and houses one of the largest European institutes of steel structures to be established by a university.

 

SBI Website

SBI (Stälbyggnadsinstitutet) in Sweden undertakes research and development and disseminates information on the use of steel in construction. It is an independent research foundation supported by its member companies and by funding from different research organisations and other foundations. Among the members are market-leading companies from the construction and steel industries with interests in the Swedish market.

 

SCI Website The Steel Construction Institute (SCI) is an independent, member-based organisation located in the UK and is probably the world's largest research and technical organization supporting the use of steel in construction. The objective of the SCI is to develop and promote the effective use of steel in construction. It employs a multi-disciplinary staff of over 40 skilled engineers, architects and IT professionals, who are all experts in their specific fields, working on both onshore and offshore projects and funded by industry, members, government and the EC.
